Wild flowers and plants around Bay Farm

There are many interesting plants growing in the varied habitats around Bay Farm. In spring the wild Cherry blossom and the May Flowers provide extra colour to the woods and in the autumn the leaves of the Cherry Trees turn a wonderful red colour after the first frosts. In the spring the woods along the shores of the bay are full of Primroses, Bluebells, Wood Cranesbill, Herb Robert and Green Alkenet. Dog Violets and the occasional Early Purple Orchid flower in the old quarry.

In May and June along the stoney shore below the cottages you will see pink Thrift, Sea Milkwort, yellow flowers of Silverweeds, white sweet smelling Scurvy Grass, Camomile, Knapweed and Hawksbeard.

In summer, the grass is carpeted with wild flowers such as Eyebright, Birdseye Speedwell, Trefoil, Stitchwort and Forget-me-not, as can be seen in this picture of the old track leading down to the shore of Munlochy bay.
